It shapes the way we design, produce and live. It’s our belief that everything around us holds value, even when it no longer serves us in the same way.

A second chance for the planet

Every year, tons of textiles end up in landfills, many of them still in usable condition. Did you know that the textile industry generates more than 92 million tons of fabric waste globally each year? And unless urgent action is taken, this figure is expected to grow dramatically by 2030. In the U.S. alone, the average person discards around 47 kilograms of textiles annually, including sheets, pillowcases and other household linens.
While it's difficult to estimate the exact number of discarded household textiles, there's no doubt that they significantly contribute to this environmental issue. But what if we could give them a second life?

A global circular economy initiative

This April, as we celebrate Earth Month, we’re reminded of our shared responsibility toward the planet and the power of taking action. Earth Month is a time to reflect on the positive impact we can have when we make sustainable choices and work together toward a better future.

That’s why COCO-MAT is launching a new global initiative that combines everyday habits with meaningful environmental impact:

This initiative will be rolled out across selected COCO-MAT stores, both in Greece and abroad,uniting our global community in one collective effort for sustainability.

What happens to your sheets?

All collected items will be repurposed in two impactful ways:

•    In collaboration with companies from our group, such as thiswasasheet.com, some of the collected sheets are upcycled into new, useful products and then donated to Non-Profit Organizations (NGOs), in line with the principles of circular economy and zero waste. 

•    Some items – thoroughly cleaned and carefully selected – will be donated directly to non-profit organizations (NGOs), extending their life by meeting real needs. As part of this initiative, we’ll be offering not only the collected sheets from participating customers, but also products from COCO-MAT collections. In this way, we combine environmental responsibility with social contribution, turning a recycling initiative into an act of solidarity and doubling the impact of your donation.

With simple, conscious decisions, we can all contribute to a more circular economy, giving new value to textiles that might otherwise end up in landfills.
