We use our bikes as much as we can. Recycling rates at our factory reach 96%. We actively support non-governmental organizations and charities. Mattresses Questions Why do you say that a mattress has to be elastic and not hard or soft? In order for the human body to relax fully and to reduce muscle spasms, its natural posture has to be maintained as much as possible. Mattresses therefore have to provide total support to the body, filling and supporting every curve or void. A hard mattress is not able to adapt to a body’s curves, while a soft mattress lets it sink in altering thereby its posture. In either case, the body is adapting to the mattress, while it should be the other way around. Elastic mattresses, on the other hand, are flexible enough to adapt and strong enough to lend support. This way, it will sink in as much as necessary to support the heavy parts of the body, while supporting the lighter parts at the same time. Thereby, the body’s natural posture is not altered and it can relax and regenerate naturally. Why don’t you produce unified double-sized mattresses? Having two single mattresses prevents the “movements” of the one to affecting the other. Furthermore, it is easier to transport or turn the mattresses and to facilitate the removal of the covers. Won’t I feel a space between the two single mattresses? The two single mattresses are in effect sewn together, lengthwise. A second cover covers both mattresses. This way, the mattresses function independently of each other, but the space between them is minimized to practically being non-existent. Do your mattresses smell? Due to our use of natural materials, there is the possibility at the beginning that the mattresses might smell different to what you are used to. This smell disappears very quickly though and in any case is harmless. How often do I need to turn the mattress? We recommend every 6 months in order to revitalize the materials. Why aren’t your mattresses equipped with handles? The cover of the mattresses doesn’t have handles, because when we want to turn them around, we need to turn the mattress itself. Please note, that the seam of the internal cover always needs to remain at the top. Can I order a mattress of a different size than the standard ones? Of course, our mattresses are available in all sizes and can be ordered in special dimensions as well. Can I choose the fabric of the cover of the mattress? No, the fabric of the mattress cover cannot be changed. Our mattresses have two covers: one internal one which is made out of 100% cotton and a second one which also is made out of 100% cotton and contains woolen padding for better comfort as well as a zipper, so that it can be removed and washed. What happens if the mattress gets wet? If a large quantity of liquid should happen to wet the mattress and is not directly dried, there is a possibility that the natural rubber will polymerize and become yellow. Do I need the additional protective cover for the mattresses? We are recommending it as it protects the mattress from sweat and humidity. Why doesn’t the ATLAS mattress have horse hair? There is no particular reason, technical or constructional, for this “absence”. And if asked for, it is possible to add horse hair to the mattress. What is the lifetime of a mattress? Our mattresses, depending on the type, are covered with a 20 year warranty. The addition of a top-mattress helps increase the lifetime of a mattress. Why are children’s mattresses harder? Children’s bodies weigh less and their bodies are still growing. An elastic mattress in this case is not completely necessary, without implying that it would be harmful for them. Do your mattresses cause allergies? No, because all of the raw materials are sterilized and create an inhospitable environment for parasites of any kind. Are your mattresses affected by parasites? COCO-MAT’s mattresses come with removable covers which are washable in the washing machine. This cover makes it very easy to keep your bed parasite-free. to top	Bed-mattresses Questions What is the ergo-base for? The ergo-base offers elevation to the bed, thereby removing pressure from the body which would otherwise exist and which would inhibit a free blood circulation. Can I choose the fabric of the cover for the bed-mattress and the headboard? Yes. All bed-mattresses and headboards can be dressed with fabric covers. COCO-MAT offers a wide range of fabrics from which you can choose one. All the covers are produced in such a way that they can be removed and washed. What kinds of legs to you use for your bed-mattresses? COCO-MAT offers a wide selection of wooden or metallic legs in different designs and heights, which are screwed onto the bed-mattress. We also offer a selection of wheels. What is the lifetime of a bed-mattress? Bed-mattresses, always depending on the model, are covered by a warranty of up to 20 years. The use of a top-mattress helps increase the lifetime of a mattress. Why doesn’t the bed-mattress have a zipper? The weight of bed-mattresses and the way they’re built makes it particularly difficult to enable the removal and repositioning of a cover. For this reason, the use of a zipper would have no practical use. In any case, for the actual protection of the bed-mattresses, there are fabric covers available, which can be removed and washed. How can I check the condition of the materials of the bed-mattress? The only material which is susceptible to an over-time decrease in quality is the natural rubber. In case this happens, the change will be obvious. to top	Top-mattresses Questions What does the top-mattress offer more than the mattress? The top-mattress completes the support given by the mattress, by catering for the curvier parts of the body (legs, hands, neck, etc.), which are too light for the mattress to support. Secondly, it increases the space between the inflexible base of the bed facilitating the blood flow in our body, as no part of it is cramped or crowded any longer. Finally, it protects the mattress adding time to its lifetime. Why doesn’t the top-mattress come in two parts like your mattresses? As top-mattresses are a lot more elastic than mattresses, the movements of the one really don’t affect the other. Why don’t you incorporate the top-mattress into the mattress? If we were to do that we would eliminate the choice of our customers, who want to choose a mattress depending on their body type. Can I purchase a bed-mattress without a top-mattress? Of course. But it would be a less than perfect purchase. Bed-mattresses, just like mattresses, are built in such a way to offer primary support to the heavy parts of the body, i.e. the hips. This means, that other parts, the more curvier or lighter ones, are insufficiently supported. The top-mattress’ use is exactly that though – to support the lighter and curvier body parts (neck, legs, arms) as it is more elastic and flexible and thereby able to fill the space between those body parts and the (top-)mattress. Additionally, it adds height to the height of the bed-mattress, thereby larger bodies are feeling the resistance of the bed-base less. Can I only buy the top-mattress and use it on top of my existing mattress? Yes, if your existing mattress is in a good condition, e.g. it doesn’t have any bumps or holes. to top
Furniture Questions Why isn’t your wooden furniture available in more colours? We want to protect the environment and refrain from using chemical colours, therefore we have reduced the use of colouring substances. What are the headboards made of? The interior of our headboards is made out of plywood, which then is dressed with natural rubber and a woolen padding in order to minimize the hardness of the wood. On top of that, you can add a fabric cover of your choosing. to top	Raw materials Questions Why don’t you use springs? Metal springs although flexible are not able to provide even support to the whole body. Secondly, in conjunction with other metallic items, they produce magnetic fields and finally, they’re inferior with regards to durability in comparison to the natural materials we use. Why doesn’t coco fibre pulverize? The coco fibre is sprayed with liquid natural rubber in order to prevent just that and to make it more elastic. Can I wash wool? Yes, at 30 degrees. Can I wash (goose) down? Yes, you can at 30 degrees. But it takes time for it to dry completely. What exactly is natural rubber? Natural rubber comes from the Hevea tree in the form of a milky liquid, which after processing becomes a foamy layer of stable natural rubber. Why can’t I wash natural rubber? Natural rubber absorbs water like a sponge. For this reason, it practically cannot be dried. What is the difference between natural rubber and latex? Natural rubber, the one used by COCO-MAT, is a product of a very refined stabilization and forming process of the juicy that has been initially gained from the Hevea tree. By the use of an innovative and unique processing procedure, the purity of the finished good achieves 96%. Does natural rubber make holes? No, because as a material is it perfect in its elastic return. Is natural rubber prone to parasites? Natural rubber creates a very inhospitable environment for parasites of any kind. Why are there holes in the layers of natural rubber? These holes produce a perfect ventilation system, enabling the material to breathe. 1. Keeps Our Heart Healthy Lack of sleep has been associated with increased blood pressure and cholesterol levels, both of which are among the greater risk factors for heart disease and stroke. Our heart can be healthier if we get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep each night.	2. Reduces Stress When our body is lacking sleep, it enters a state of stress. Body functions are on high alert. This increases blood pressure and causes the production of stress hormones. Stress hormones then, in turn, make it harder for us to fall asleep, while higher blood pressure, as mentioned above, increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. By getting a good night's sleep we can break the circle of stress and counteract its effects on our body.	3. Reduces Chronic Inflammation The increase in stress hormones, caused by the sleeping disorders, has been associated with chronic inflammation disorders, such as periodontitis, atherosclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and even cancer, heart-related conditions, or diabetes. Chronic inflammation is also thought to be one of the causes of aging.
4. Makes Us More Active A good night’s sleep will make us feel more active and alert on the following day. Energy levels after a good sleep are higher, your mental awareness is more acute and you are more likely to smile more. A restful sleep session not only feels great, but it increases our chances for another good night’s sleep next time we go to bed.	5. Boosts Memory Researchers may have long been arguing on why we dream, but they do agree on the many processes that occur during sleep, among which something called memory consolidation. While the body is resting, our brain is busy processing our day, and making connections between events, feelings, experiences and memories. Sleeping time is the most important time for our brain to shape memories and make the connections, which can make it easier for us to retrieve those memories in the future.	6. Can Help Us Lose Weight Researchers have found that people who sleep for less than seven hours per night are more likely to be overweight or obese. Lack of sleep affects the levels of ghrelin and leptin, the hormones responsible for regulating our appetite. So, to put it simply, if you want to stay in shape, get more sleep!
7. Makes Us Smarter Napping during the day is not only an effective and refreshing alternative to caffeine, but can also make us more productive. After even a short sleep session, especially during the day, our mind regains focus and we can better tackle those tricky mental challenges. Sleep can also trigger creativity. Just remember all those "Eureka" moments you've had, waking up after a short nap.	8. Reduces Risk of Depression Among the various biochemical substances affected by sleep, serotonin is perhaps the most famous one. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that affects our mood. High serotonin levels create the feeling of happiness, and low serotonin levels can make us vulnerable to depression and other disorders. Making sure we are getting enough sleep, between 7 and 9 hours every night, will help us regulate serotonin levels, thus feeling happier and more productive.	9. Helps Our Body Replenish Sleep is the time for our body to repair any damage caused by stress, ultraviolet rays and other harmful exposures. During sleep, cells produce more protein which is used in repairing damaged cells. Muscle injuries and other trauma also heal faster during sleep.

COCO-MAT sleep products are all handmade in the company’s owned manufacturing unit in Xanthi, in Northern Greece. The workshop comprises a total of seven buildings in an area covering 25,000 m².

Our products are manufactured on the basis of orders received, in line with the dimensions and requirements provided by the client.

Committed to reducing its environmental footprint and providing naturally healthy products, we have effectively banned the use of chemicals in the treatment of products. Where materials are not used in their natural state and colour, only ecological, non-toxic, non-aggressive dyes are used.

COCO-MAT also tries minimising the amount of waste and cut-offs. By investing in new production methods, we have achieved a recycling rate of today 96%. Product left-overs are being used to produce other products, e.g. cut-offs from natural rubber sheets are reserved for the production of rubber flake fillings.
