Why do you say that a mattress has to be elastic and not hard or soft?
In order for the human body to relax fully and to reduce muscle spasms, its natural posture has to be maintained as much as possible. Mattresses therefore have to provide total support to the body, filling and supporting every curve or void. A hard mattress is not able to adapt to a body’s curves, while a soft mattress lets it sink in altering thereby its posture. In either case, the body is adapting to the mattress, while it should be the other way around. Elastic mattresses, on the other hand, are flexible enough to adapt and strong enough to lend support. This way, it will sink in as much as necessary to support the heavy parts of the body, while supporting the lighter parts at the same time. Thereby, the body’s natural posture is not altered and it can relax and regenerate naturally.
Why don’t you produce unified double-sized mattresses?
Having two single mattresses prevents the “movements” of the one to affecting the other. Furthermore, it is easier to transport or turn the mattresses and to facilitate the removal of the covers.
Won’t I feel a space between the two single mattresses?
The two single mattresses are in effect sewn together, lengthwise. A second cover covers both mattresses. This way, the mattresses function independently of each other, but the space between them is minimized to practically being non-existent.
Do your mattresses smell?
Due to our use of natural materials, there is the possibility at the beginning that the mattresses might smell different to what you are used to. This smell disappears very quickly though and in any case is harmless.
How often do I need to turn the mattress?
We recommend every 6 months in order to revitalize the materials.
Why aren’t your mattresses equipped with handles?
The cover of the mattresses doesn’t have handles, because when we want to turn them around, we need to turn the mattress itself. Please note, that the seam of the internal cover always needs to remain at the top.
Can I order a mattress of a different size than the standard ones?
Of course, our mattresses are available in all sizes and can be ordered in special dimensions as well.
Can I choose the fabric of the cover of the mattress?
No, the fabric of the mattress cover cannot be changed. Our mattresses have two covers: one internal one which is made out of 100% cotton and a second one which also is made out of 100% cotton and contains woolen padding for better comfort as well as a zipper, so that it can be removed and washed.
What happens if the mattress gets wet?
If a large quantity of liquid should happen to wet the mattress and is not directly dried, there is a possibility that the natural rubber will polymerize and become yellow.
Do I need the additional protective cover for the mattresses?
We are recommending it as it protects the mattress from sweat and humidity.
Why doesn’t the ATLAS mattress have horse hair?
There is no particular reason, technical or constructional, for this “absence”. And if asked for, it is possible to add horse hair to the mattress.
What is the lifetime of a mattress?
Our mattresses, depending on the type, are covered with a 20 year warranty. The addition of a top-mattress helps increase the lifetime of a mattress.
Why are children’s mattresses harder?
Children’s bodies weigh less and their bodies are still growing. An elastic mattress in this case is not completely necessary, without implying that it would be harmful for them.
Do your mattresses cause allergies?
No, because all of the raw materials are sterilized and create an inhospitable environment for parasites of any kind.
Are your mattresses affected by parasites?
COCO-MAT’s mattresses come with removable covers which are washable in the washing machine. This cover makes it very easy to keep your bed parasite-free.
